Kitchen Sink: Nov 17

Busy today with stuff other than politics, even too busy to attend Occupy demos.  A few things to think about until tomorrow.

Newt who was the Washington insider (until he was run out of town) has now replaced Herman Cain, the Washington outsider, in the polls.  We thought they (you know who they are) loved Cain because he knew nothing of Washington or anything else for that matter  (see Cain's comments on Libya and the mountains in Iran). Hmm!

Occupy Wall St. was evicted by Brookfield Properties, with the assistance of Bloomberg and hundreds of riot police, all with their faces hidden (New York's Finest at intimidation).  Did you also know that Brookfield, the owner of Zuccotti Park, is subsidized by the tax payers (the occupiers) to the tune of $174.5 million.  It's ok if we subsidize billionaires but when we challenge them, we're denied our rights and our research libraries are destroyed.  For those who love historians (think Newt), in what year did the Nazis burn books?

Congress.  if any of you are wondering what our representatives do for their $174,000 a year salaries, you'll be happy to hear that yesterday they were particularly busy endorsing a bill that labels pizza a vegetable on the school lunch program.  The agriculture lobbyists were out in mega numbers to insure that some of the changes Obama wanted in school lunches to reduce the obesity rate went down to defeat.  Question:  Are Republicans in general fatter than Democrats?   Newt and Cain are a bit chubby but Mitt is trim and so is Michelle.  Weight in on this one if you have any evidence to provide, besides hearsay.   Send pictures.

Penn State.  McQueary, the assistant coach who witnessed Sandusky abusing a ten year old boy in the Penn State showers, is now claiming he stopped the abuse and reported it to the police.  The police, at least in two branches, deny this.  Is this a deliberate move on McQueary's part to muddle the picture so Sandusky walks away from the molestation charges?  I doubt it, but suspect that McQueary is just trying to get some of the heat off himself for walking away from the rape of a child (initial reports say he did nothing other than report it the following day to JoePa), but he may have handed the defense an out, based on his credibility or lack thereof.  If so, and Sandusky is acquitted because of McQueary, he's now doubly guilty of helping a child abuser to continue the abuse.

Obama.  He's visiting Australia and instead of bringing a bottle of wine or some chocolates he delivered a contingent of marines.  The man who claimed to be the peace candidate four years ago never met a war, now or in the future, he didn't like.  All you men who claim you voted for Obama and against Hillary because she's too militaristic, fess up.   It was really because she's a woman!  In your heart of hearts, you know it's true.

More Occupy.  A 4-foot 10-inch 84-year-old-woman with ties to activism going back decades was the victim of pepper-spray by  overzealous Seattle police (when are the police not overzealous with the 99%?).  She was helped after the incident by an Iraq war veteran.  The police response, "pepper spray is no more dangerous to someone who is 10 or someone who is 80."  I believe he then sprayed a ten year old to prove his point.  Oops, I stand corrected, it was a pregnant woman!

Go Occupiers!

  1. You have been injured in need of a personal injury lawyer. It can be hard to determine which course to take when things seem down and out.
