In Name Only!

I quote below from a comment I read on-line with respect to the Clint Eastwood commercial aired during the Superbowl:

The party (referring to Republicans) is off the reservation and I don't think they're coming back. They've spent the last three years seeing a Democrat do what they have made careers out of pretending they are good at doing. He's cited Jesus in policy discussions. He's sent out missions to kill terrorists and the occasional citizen. He's probably going to hit the world record on deportations and drug raids soon. And Republicans are losing their minds, because that guy is who they pretended to be all these years.

The worst part for Republicans has got to be that Corporate Americanism (Chrysler paid for the ad) has associated itself with a Democrat, and worse still, one who doesn't even have the decency to cheat on his wife and perjure himself in front of Congress.
Republicans are angry at Clint Eastwood, a life long Republican who, if we're to believe him (and I certainly do), has voted for Republicans since he cast his first presidential vote for Eisenhower. And why are they angry, because of the superbowl ad paid for by Chrysler and starring Clint Eastwood.  The ad celebrates the turnaround in Detroit and suggests that better times are coming. As a number of analysts have pointed out, the ad is very similar to Reagan's "Morning in American," which Republicans love.  The real horror of their reaction to the ad, is that they don't want better times to come if they come under a Democratic president, and far worse if they come under a black Democratic president.  So, tell me again, Republican's hatred of Obama is because of his policies and not because he's African American.  Really!
