This examination takes the standard sonogram examination one step further, by introducing a special probe that can be placed directly in the vagina. A developing fetus at six to eight weeks can be easily seen by the standard exam. Before six to eight weeks however the standard exam may not give the information needed. The Intravaginal Sonogram using the special probe, improves visibility due to its position inside the vagina. Under six to eight weeks of age, a fetus may not be seen by standard sonography. The ovaries also are small and difficult to see through the abdomen. Placing the Intravaginal Probe closer to the uterus and ovaries, improves the quality of the images.A woman who has decided on an abortion does not need this examination--its sole purpose is to humiliate her for daring to make decisions concerning her own body. Perhaps, as some women suggest, the recent viral attempts to control women by passing laws that deny them contraceptives is the last pathetic mew of men (too many men, apparently) who regret the passing of the Victorian age where they did whatever they wished to women without repercussion--and I refer in particular to the Catholic clergy. If we don't fight back, and I mean fight back with whatever weapons are available--voting, writing, marching, denying, we'll lose our rights.
Younger women are the most culpable in their passivity. Get off your duffs and your cell phones, stop the manicures, the pedicures, and the hair straightening, and fight! It's your world now and it's your fight. I'm tired, and I no longer need contraceptives!
