Romney is considered the least conservative of those running (Ron Paul is just out there!), so the speculation was that Trump would endorse Newt and that if Romney won, Trump would go third-party. Of course, Trump never had any intention of running, so by endorsing Romney he's pulled himself out of the fire. How ironic if Newt wins in the end--but please no!

You have to love them! Republicans, that is.
Donald Trump, Newt's dear friend, just endorsed Romney for president. As noted in the article I just read, it's unlikely to bring Romney any more votes, fewer if anything. A recent Pew poll showed that 64% of GOP voters say a Trump endorsement would make no difference to them; 13% said it would, and 20% said it would make them less likely to vote for the person he endorsed. So take that Donald!
