Health Care in U.S.--Even a bigger joke!

Today I received a letter from the Hospital for Joint Diseases, which is affiliated with NYU Hospital.  It states that my rheumatologist's office will now be located at 38th Street, which was (initially) great news as I now have to travel much further when I pay her a visit, from 36th to 22nd St.  Enclosed with this news was a statement that financial billing would change in the future.  A very confusing letter, but the essence is that in the future when I visit her I'll be charged a technical facility co-payment and later, if warranted, a physician's co-payment, and other applicable charges.  I called up the current office (same telephone number for both the old and new offices) and asked the receptionist what this means.  She had no idea and transferred me to the Billing Office, at my request.  The person I spoke to had no idea and transferred me to the billing supervisor (Jim Barrow), who also had no idea.  He'll call me back.

I'm quite sure what they're telling me in round about language is that in the future I'll pay a lot more than my usual $35.00 co-payment for a specialist.  We shall see!
