The title of this post is part of a quotation from John Edwards today when the jury found him "not guilty" on one count and deadlocked on five other counts. He really doesn't go in for hyperbole, does he? His wife Elizabeth was dying of breast cancer yet she remained his loyal supporter during his run for president, and for her reward Edwards had an affair with, if we're to believe the rumors, the biggest slut in New York City. I believe the rumors.
The saddest thing I've ever read, and it still makes me cry, is the statement by Elizabeth Edwards' closest female friend that Elizabeth dreaded dying alone, without a man who loved her at her side. I, like so many women, despise John Edwards. Really, what's not to despise? That being said, the government's case against Edwards was ridiculous, solely political, and as every pundit on the left and right commented it was destined to fail. And it has failed, at the cost of millions of dollars that could have been used to far greater purpose by the citizens of North Carolina.
I still want Edwards to return the $50 I gave to his presidential campaign. Jerk!
