Surviving Bloomberg!

The Nanny Mayor, as many Republicans label Mayor Bloomberg, is not performing to his nanny status.  I can't imagine any nanny letting the marathon go ahead, requiring a large contingent of resources, people, generators, food, water, etc. when tens of thousands of people are hungry and cold, and would welcome those resources in their neighborhoods.  I hope no New Yorkers show up to watch and so express their displeasure.

The mayor has his special interests: high sugar content in soda being one, gun control another, and for those he'll vigorously pursue solutions but for areas where he has a special interest, he contradicts himself.  We have a huge cycling problem in Manhattan so much so that I'm always afraid of crossing streets, both side streets and the avenues when I have the light in my favor.  They come out of nowhere through stop signs, red lights, riding on sidewalks, the wrong way, etc., but Bloomberg does nothing.  One reason, his girlfriend (as I read somewhere) rides her bike to work.  He also wants to make New York a cycling community, which makes sense, but only so long as cyclists obey the law.  He does nothing to help this happen.

Bottom line: we don't need a marathon. Not only is it not unifying New Yorkers, it's doing just the opposite. For once, Bloomberg should forget his massive ego and think of the massive numbers of people who are suffering from Sandy
