“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.” ― Rebecca West, The Young Rebecca: Writings, 1911-1917

Francis I
I'm happy that the new pope is South American and also happy that he is known to care for, and about, the poor. But all else is as expected. He's a conservative who often rails against gays, gay marriage, and the adoption of children by gay couples. When, if ever, does the Catholic church get over its hypocrisy. It permitted pedophiles to run wild within the church, even worse with its protection, yet has a problem with gay marriage. Wouldn't it serve the church and the world better if it faced up to the realities of the world and got rid of the celibacy rules and also permitted women to hold their rightful place in the church. Without the support of women the Catholic Church would have ceased operating long ago. Considering my last sentence, perhaps I should rail against women for supporting an organization that has no respect for them or their daughters. Sigh!
