An interesting day!

Three events caught my attention today, all significant.

Sarkozy called Bibi (Benjamin Netanyahu) a liar while talking to Obama on an open microphone at the G20 conference.  Obama replied (I paraphrase): "What are you complaining about.  I have to deal with the guy every day."  (Isn't Bibi, the liar, the same guy the Republicans invited to address our lying Congress (I use "lying" in every sense of the word).  As an aside, what else do these guys (and gals) do at these economic summits beside eat, drink, and stare into each others eyes--I'm remembering the love affair between Bush Jr. and Putin.

Berlusconi lost his majority in Parliament.  I so look forward to not hearing his name again, but I'm not betting against his staying power.   Whenever I despair at the types we elect to office in this country, I remember the Italians and Berlusconi and rejoice that we haven't hit rock bottom, yet.  Any economic gurus out there?--would I be crazy to invest my savings (now getting about 1/2% in interest) in Italian bonds--pulling close to 7%.  And an amendment.  Berlusconi now says he will resign!  Yea.

Hermain Cain is fighting back but does anyone (including his wife) not believe he's a groper.  I'm glad Sharon Bialke put Anita Hill out of mind when she decided to tell her story.  Let's hope the two ladies that actually complained (and got settlements) have the courage to tell their stories as well.   Hotels keep records and it should be easy enough to determine if Bialke stayed in the suite she describes, and if Cain paid for the upgrade.   Let's count them, five (5) women with similar stories: the two who filed complaints with the NRA, the additional one who never filed suit but talked about the abuse after the fact, a fourth woman identified by a male Republican pollster (he says with many witnesses to the abuse), and the fifth, Sharon Bialke.   And since Cain appears to be a serial groper, I suspect lots more to come.  The Christian right love politicians who espouse its values.  Espouse seems to be the operative word since the same politicians rarely adhere to them, and Newt is their gold standard.

More about Newt later.  Some say he's making a come back.  Can you even imagine Calista as our first lady!
