“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.” ― Rebecca West, The Young Rebecca: Writings, 1911-1917

Good for Paula Reid!
Just read that Paula Reid, the newly-appointed head of the Secret Service Miami Division, in charge of South America, was the supervisor who decided to bring the scandal to light as soon as she heard what had happened. Reid is a woman, of course, and an African-American as well. As a number of women senators are asking, and I agree with the question, why aren't there more female members of the agency, in which approximately 11% are women? As one agent, who wished to remain anonymous, stated: it's unlikely if a male had been in Reid's position the action taken would have been as aggressive and immediate, ordering eleven agents out of Columbia forthwith. I agree with Senator Collins, these types of scandals happen less often when an agency has large numbers of female members. Apparently, Secret Service agents still think they live in the Mad Men era. They don't!
