“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.” ― Rebecca West, The Young Rebecca: Writings, 1911-1917

I do feel good!
I've never been a fan of "do good" stories, particularly after a tragedy that should make us all feel guilty for our negligence in not changing the gun laws in this country. But the story of the young woman who saved the life of her friend who was shot in the neck in Aurora does make me feel good. When her friend was shot and the gunman was still killing others, she pulled her friend into the aisle, applied pressure to the wound while calling 911. Her friend lived. This is a story of true strength and bravery and, referring to my earlier post on "winning," the type of woman we should be celebrating, not Kerri Strug for risking permanent injury for a medal. Ms. David (forgotten her first name) is the personification of a strong woman.
