Some Days, Good News!

The most exciting story I read today, in Google news, is that UCLA has developed a solar window that can generate heat and still be transparent; and the really good news is its low manufacturing costs.  What the article didn't mention, and I think should have, is the probability of reducing global warming by reducing our need for fossil fuels.  What doesn't surprise me is this story is buried in among the killings, celebrity romances, and Obama and Romney.

Other good news, I think, is that the first gene therapy is likely to be approved in Europe very soon, a small triumph but one nonetheless.  Those who are born without a gene that permits them to absorb fat (a very painful and life threatening condition) can now be injected with a substance that replicates the gene.
