Elections: Kitchen Sink!

I still haven't decided if the Democratic ad about the woman who died of breast cancer is as unfair as the Republicans claim.  It is ironic, after all, that the party that ran the Willie Horton ads or the lies about John Kerry can with straight face call the "breast cancer" ad out of line.  Just wish the Democrats had found a better example of Romney and Bain Capital's effect on actual people than the one they're currently using.  Then, of course, the Democrats did run the ad that knocked Goldwater out of the running--if anyone out there remembers it besides me.  Both parties are guilty of lying--so let's all think third party.

I always enjoy taking pot shots at Maureen Dowd so must wonder what her recent column on Obama  is all about.  After finishing the column, I was left with the impression that Obama didn't show Maureen what she felt was proper respect so she's now out to skewer him as she did the Clintons for eight years.  The Times really needs another columnist of the type "Gail Collins."  At least she's fun to read.

The news today is that Romney may pick Paul Ryan for the Veep spot to pacify the far right of his party--although I must ask if there's any other group in the Republican Party other than the far right?  If he picks Ryan, that will be one of his biggest mistakes.  The Republicans, god knows why, can pretty much count on a heavy turnout of seniors, but let the Democrats start on Ryan's view that Social Security should be dismantled and Romney will lose a good portion of those voters.  Here's hoping!
