What happened to Maureen Dowd?

She's done it again.  Today's column, in the middle of a hotly fought presidential election and one that has dire implications for the United States if the Republicans win, is about Marilyn Monroe.  Really, do we need or want Monroe worship from a political columnist?  When does the New York Times plan to rid itself of this totally lame political columnist and give us someone that we actually want to read.  Does the Times really want to be the answer to the entertainment channel? I'm beginning to think the answer might be "yes."

    Did I miss the news that that Rupert Murdoch has taken over the NY Times? For the past weeks so many of their editorialists have gone batty - undercutting Obama at every turn. They sound petulent like scolded chidren. Dowd used to be interested but now seems infected with Mad Cow.

    I like the Mad Cow and glad to find someone else who agrees with me on Dowd.
