“I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat, or a prostitute.” ― Rebecca West, The Young Rebecca: Writings, 1911-1917

Hypocrisy--#1 qualification to be a CEO!
Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman Sacks, said today, after meeting with Obama, that Social Security was never meant to give us 30 years of retirement income after working 25 years. So, the chairman of Goldman Sachs, a company that received some 10 billion from the U.S. government to save its ass, is now trying to take away my social security, and yours. I went to work at 17 and took early retirement at 62, which means I worked and contributed to SS for 45 years (not 25). With luck, and if I live to my projected lifespan, I'll collect social security for less than 20 years (with luck). So where are these figures coming from. He's CEO of Goldman Sachs and he doesn't know the SS retirement age or the life expectancy tables for those over 60! I'm totally disgusted that Obama is now going back to these financial geniuses that put us in this fiscal conundrum in the first place. Does he ever learn? Apparently not!

I doubt whether your S.S. will be touched but lookout for any investments/investment income you may receive. Have you forgotten its time to redistribute but that's what you voted for, correct?
ReplyDeleteDo you mean the 1/2 percent I receive on my investment income? Yes, I did vote for Obama, as the least of two evils. No doubt if Romney had won I'd still get 1/2 percent on my investment income, no inflation raise in SS,
ReplyDeleteand would lose Medicare while good old Lloyd would get a reduction in his tax rate.
I suggest you change your broker or if you do your own investing stop! I suggest you look at the increase in your medigap coverage - its way up - for 2013 and that was not a Romney move. Obamacare is slowly making its way into our pockets. I suspect that under Obama or Romney S.S. recipient will not see an increase which is a pity - the least capable of enhancing their income. The reality of it all, is under either party, the seniors and middle class will be screwed.
